Introduction

10th Fighter Bomber Squadron

The 10th FBS was activated on 1st January 1953 at Clovis AFB, NM. Initial equipment was the F-51D, but F-86F Sabres were received prior to overseas posting. Arriving at Hahn AB, Germany on 11th August 1953, the unit flew the F-model for two years, converting then to the F-86H. The 10th FBS was then posted to Toul Rosieres AB, France on 10th July 1956, before converting to F-100Ds in 1958. Throughout the whole period, the squadron was assigned to 50th FBG/W.

81st Fighter Bomber Squadron 

The 81st FBS was activated on 1st January 1953 at Clovis AFB NM. Initial equipment was the F-51D, but F-86F Sabres were received prior to overseas posting. Arriving at Hahn AB, Germany on 10th August 1953, the unit flew the F-model for two years, converting then to the F-86H in 1955. The 81st FBS was then posted to Toul Rosieres AB, France on 10th July 1956, before converting to F-100Ds in 1957. Throughout the whole period, the squadron was assigned to 50th Fighter Bomber Group/Wing.

417th Fighter Bomber Squadron 

417th FBS converted from the F-51 to F-86Fs at Clovis AFB NM in 1953 prior to moving to Hahn AB in West Germany. Converted to F-86H in 1955 and moved to Toul/Rosieres AB, France in April 1956. Converted to F-100D in 1958. Assigned to 50th FBG throughout.
